About Aus Phone Towers

Have you ever wondered where your nearest mobile phone tower was? What services does it support? How fast are the 4G Internet speeds in your area? How far does the signal reach? Which is the best phone provider for you?

If so, this app is for you!

Updated weekly with the latest tower information from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), this app presents all you ever wanted to know about your local mobile phone towers in a fun and interactive format.

The app includes details of Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, NBN, TPG, TV, pagers, government, CBRS and aviation transmitters!

Completely FREE and without advertisements!

Notes:

The Follow GPS feature (on the top toolbar) will cause the screen to relocate to your current position every 5 seconds and the screen will stay on. Use this feature while travelling but remember to turn it off when you just want to explore other towers manually.

This application will monitor the cell tower connected to your phone to assist in displaying tower information to you. Tower information is occasionally aggregated back to our servers and to OpenCelliD / Mozilla Location Services. A marker will be added to your map view when this happens. No personally identifiable information is collected, other than your Android Id and your location.

Unfortunately, Samsung devices (including the S8) do not implement all network interfaces correctly (or at all) so you will find some features will not work. This is mainly limited to the current network frequencies but may also prevent detection of which tower you are using. This is a firmware problem so only Samsung can fix this. You can still use this app to browse the local towers.

Fantastic app. Tells you where all the mobile towers are and how far they reach

brilliant App, well done, could not set up my mobile phone antenna and repeater without it.

U70%

Great app though I wish the tower data was fully downloaded rather than on demand from a zoomed in map. I have to scroll at high zoom through remote areas like Vic high country to find towers before we go out of range..

Been using since inception whilst travelling. A great tool for finding towers. Just bought the developer lunch burning through my Telstra credit before it becomes useless.

I love this app it has come in so handy I love the ability to see what tower I'm connected to. Only 4 stars as I would lobe to see a option to turn of the radiation patterns and also like to see rmr and MMR and other radio system trunking frequency's if you could even get rid of the annoying patters I'd give 5 stars still an awesome app one of it's kind

When you don't think that the NBN is going to serve your needs, use this to see if you can get Optus 4G at your place and see if it offers a competitive price. The app works extremely well, the dev has done a great job.

Good app for telstra towers in the goldfield, would also like to know the mining companies who have their own boosted towers who are linked to telstra. Around the goldfields north of Kalgoorlie would be appreciated

This is seriously good use of the ACMA data and so convenient on a smartphone.

If it defaults to Charlie Sturts University, YOU must have "Android Settings + Connections - LOCATION" enabled, and "Android Settings + Applications + Aus Phone Towers + Permissions - LOCATION," enabled. This is a very well sorted out application. Technically and interface wise - it's properly done.

Excellent. Great for cord-cutters, travellers, and those like me wondering why I get good coverage from some carriers and not others.

U70%

Been looking for something like this for years. Very useful in the dodgy coverage areas I frequent

U70%

Would be a good app if accurate also would be better if it showed an expected date of operation for new towers

Aus Phone Towers seems to work surprisingly well, and there is plenty of data available for each transmission site. I was surprised to see that despite the name of the application, there is actually support for most types of transmission towers (including television and radio)! My only real complaint regarding Aus Phone Towers is that it uses Google Maps. I know, I know - I'm using an Android mobile device which runs an operating system from Google... But the Aus Phone Towers application is already using OpenCellID and the Mozilla Location Service - why not go one step further and offer OpenStreetMap support (even if it was only optional)? Other than that one minor complaint, I simply cannot recommend this application highly enough.

Very good app for travelers. Be excellent if it can cache results for offline viewing. This would be beneficial for travelers who go out of coverage by using the app to search the geographic area prior to losing coverage, then use the cache results to possibly change travel route.

This is surprisingly a good app would love for it to stay even when fully zoomed out so you can see the full impact of certain towers. Other then that deserves a 5 star rating.

This is the most helpful and useful app I have on my phone. Thank you. Immense help in understanding local 3G capabilities. Have been able to help others elsewhere to check who is likely to be best provider in their regional areas. A 10 out of 5 stars. I absolutely love it.

Having all known towers (not only phone) and radiation patterns with frequency is extremely handy. Very useful app!

I recommend this app if you are looking for tower information. It is the only one I've found to confirm the rural Optus tower and frequency I'm connected to. Well worth paying for lunch. 5 stars...

Sony Xperia xa does not show where you are receiving signals from tower, only shows the towers only. Other devices works fine.

A very useful, well thought out app. Many thanks to the author.
