About Learning Potential

Packed with tips and ideas for you to get involved in your child’s learning, the Learning Potential app helps you to make the most of the time you spend with your child.

Researchers around the world agree that when parents are involved in their child’s learning it really can have a positive impact. That’s why this free Australian Government app provides inspiring ways you can be more involved from the highchair to high school.

See how learning activities can fit into your routine, like when you’re getting dinner ready or driving to school.
Personalise the app for your family’s needs. Type in your child’s or children’s name and age and receive articles and videos that are relevant to their age group.

With Learning Potential, you can:
• Set the app for regular hints, tips and reminders.
• Save articles to your favourites so you can read them later.
• Personalise the app to suit you. Your personal data will not be collected.

This free app has been developed by the Department of Education and Training in consultation with Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority.

Good for school aged kids. The app does say 3+. People leaving negative feedback, I would say, your 2 month old probably does not need this app! Good tips for dealing with everyday school experiences and problem solving.

G70%
by G####:

I see from the information page that it clearly states for 3+, yet plenty of negative reviews from 'adults' about their 18 month old, 2 y.o. children etc and how useless this app is for them. In a word 'Duh!' ... come back when your children are of the appropriate age.

N70%
by N####:

Laughable. It's like they didn't even ask anyone to test this at all. Just googling information is way easier

V70%
by V####:

Politically motivated app with nothing special or unique that you can't find in better apps out there

N70%
by N####:

Just let Christopher Pyne know. He'll fix it. He's a fixer. Also, the five star reviews are from the company who developed the app. So there's that.

This is an excellent app.

Not personalised for the age of my child at all. What is the point?

R70%

Waste of time

I found a couple of good ideas for my 18 month old but I had to scroll through a lot of stuff aimed at school aged children. What's the point of personalisation if the ideas are mostly for different age groups? Also my pictures uploaded sideways. I like the concept and hope updates fix these small issues.

Z70%
by Z####:

Could have been great. Unfortunately its not. Why not display age appropriate information for your child? Instead i have to scroll through information that has nothing to do with my new born. Yet the app asked for her date of birth, what for if it doesnt enhance the user experience? If i am going to have to scroll through useless information, i might as well just use google. Its a pitty really, could have been very usefull if done correctly.

Educational apps lose some appeal when basic spell checking isn't employed by the creators (Learning Potenital doesn't have the same ring to it!) Also, I don't believe that having a huge, unordered list of information encompassing a huge range of information - most of which is not useful for my baby who can't even talk yet - is a useful way of presenting what may be very good information. I won't be using this again.

N70%
by N####:

An app that is clearly aimed at people that lack even basic parenting skills. Give your child breakfast? Send them to school with lunch? Gee thanks, I never would have thought of that. Also doesn't give any real personalization option just generic information. I'm not dissapointed, because I'm used to being let down by my government.

This is the stupidiest thing i have downloaded so far i know not to buy toys with small parts for my 2 yr old and he is so far of going to school its useless

N70%

This app has been incredibly helpful already!! Loving the content and videos are great! Easy to use and personalise.

U70%
by U####:

I am unsure how this app is tailored to your child given that my child is 2 months old and it tells me to complete activities such as water play and bowling alleys. Also I am fairly certain the average person is aware that water play leads to a child getting wet, please dont treat is like idiots.

Needs work in some areas, like suggestion to encourage essay writing skills of our 8 week old. Would also benefit from extra detail. Could learn a lot from the Aus governments own Raising Children website.

W70%

Nor is the information even sorted for different age groups...Was this funded by tax payers money??

N70%
by N####:

i entered in my 7 month old and the app is telling me about school activities... wtf.

R70%
by R####:

I like the personalisation aspect of the app and how it ties into education. I will use it for awhile to see what tips it can provide, however early impressions are very good!

N70%
by N####:

Great Initiative! The first article is about computer literacy! Considering the target users; Style could be improved with small things like a larger font or a scroll-bar (show how far you are through the articles).

N70%
by N####:

This was easy to use and navigate. A great way to get hints and tips for every age group.

My sons 4 months old really dont see how preschool and primary school stuff has any thing to do with him right now. I'll be un installing asap

Why are we encouraging our children to watch television? Ridiculous. There is no need for a toddler to be watching television.

N70%

This application gives the abstract of the best way to improve the child's education and mental growth.

M70%

Very inappropriate games and activities for the age of my child. Why ask for their age if you just give generic info?

P70%

I do not find much information to educate children

Useful info in there with some great tips I'd never thought of.
