About Energy Consumption Analyzer

This application keeps track of your energy consumption. Add your meters for gas, electricity, or water to the database and record the current meter readings from time to time. Readings can be color-coded and comments may be added to remember special situations which may explain unusual energy usage. A regular reading interval is not required, take a reading whenever it is convenient.

From the entered data, the application calculates the average normalized rate of consumption per hour, day, week, or month (bewteen two readings) and draws a graph showing the consumption rate over time. The total amount of actually used energy during each day, week, month, or quarter is displayed as a bar graph or table. If the average cost per unit is provided, the graphs can also show the amount of money instead of energy.

For CLOUD SYNC: Use Export/Import via Google Drive to exchange database contents with other devices.

Meter exchange or reset is detected automatically and consumption data is recorded seamlessly across the reset.

Pinch zoom can be used on the trend and bar graph pages. In landscape orientation, comments are displayed in the list view.

Indirect metering is supoorted. In this case, the meter value is multiplied with a certain factor to convert it to the final energy value. Two separate unit texts can be entered, one for the meter and one for the actual energy value.

Meters can be marked to count backwards, which can happen with prepaid meters, showing the amount of remaining prepaid energy instead of used energy.

Virtual meters can be used to display the sum of individual meters and do simple unit conversion, for example from m3 to kWh. Please note that you should read your physical meters which are part of a virtual meter all around the same time for best results.

Meter data can be imported from and exported to CSV files from the context menu of each meter (long-press on the meter entry). Meters can also be edited and deleted via this context menu.

In addition to meter readings, sensor data like temperature or wind speed can be recorded. At the moment, this data is shown separately, but may be shown in combination with meter data in future releases.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The trend graph does NOT show total amount of energy used. The bar graph is used for this information. The trend graph shows usage values normalized to a certain time period (hour/day/week/month or year). If your meter records a usage of 10kWh within one hour (10kW power), the trend will show a usage rate of 240kWh per day for that measurement point (10kWh/h = 10kW power rating, normalized to one day -> 10kW * 24h = 240kWh). This is by design.

Hi, i really love your app, im in South Africa so i only use it for prepaid electricity use. What i would like to see is an estimate on how long my current electricity will last based on my last entry(current amount) divided by the average use that is already given and then give you a date. Like you will run out by 1 december.

Pretty good app for what it does, but it's a bit limited in its options. For instance, service charges are normally assessed per day or per month, but this app requires them to be input per year. Also, if you have more than one meter (e.g. gas and electricity), you have to go through the whole meter read process for each meter individually. It would be much better if I could type in all my meter readings in one go. And finally, it doesn't offer anything in the way of forward planning - you can see your usage trends on a graph but it can't project forward and tell you what you're likely to spend next month. A few enhancements would really turn this into a killer app for me. :)

UPDATE. Complete redesign...now works in newer Samsung phones. Great app. Old review..........Will not work on note 5 even though long pressing the back button is supposed to access the menu

I would still like to see adding entries via the readings pane return. Also, when comments are added the entry used to be highlighted so easy to see entries with comments. Checked on a Nexus 7 tablet.

If you could add fixed charges separately and then total up all your meters plus the fixed charge, it'd be 5 stars.

Liked the app but since I upgraded from the samsung s4 to the Samsung note 5 I cannot load my meters. There are no menu function button to add new meter. Would love it if you guys could fix this problem. Thank you for fixing the issues. Love the app..

Was very good but since upgrade it is now user unfriendly. Why do you fix something that ain't broke. I have used this for more than 5 years but will have to consider looking for something new.

The upgrade will be reason I uninstall. The new UI is a downgrade, the blue theme was badly though by developers. the entire app looks amateur.

Need to drop the rating to 3 stars. Moved to a Note 4 (6.0.1) from HTC One X. Am experiencing the menu issue. No work around works for me. HTC works fine. Would love to see a fix for Samsung please UPDATE: The latest update now works with Samsung Note 4. Back to 5 stars

When editing a virtual meter, the meter names are shown as "Meter Name" so I don't know which is which.

Thanks for creating such a useful tool. Simple meter reading and you know exactly what to expect from your energy supplier before the bill is produced. I find it helpful in as much as I know how much to budget against the bizarre figures suppliers will suggest in terms of direct debit calculations.

This is the greatest application for this purpose I found. Update 09.08.2016: The menu worked only once by pressing a tab. To make it work I unistalled ECAS then force closed Smart Manager and reinstalled ECAS. I managed to import the back-up data and meters and now I can use the app. Unfortunatly no more back-up function as menu is not accesible. Hope still to have automatic back-ups.

cannot figure out a way to input my meter readings so that it automatically calculates the amount per day. my meter only gives me a readout of total kwh used and counts both ways based on how much solar is generated. I just want o input the current meter total reading in the log rather than calculating the difference myself every time. Other nitpicky things I didn't like: wish it synced with Google Drive, layout is not very intuitive, had to mess with my phone's system settings to get the menu to turn on

I loved this app since I can keep track of my monthly electricity, my monthly work chargeability , etc. Easy to use and full of information. Unfortunately after I got a new model phone, I could not get the Menu button on the app to be able to import data from the old phone backup. Sorry that I now have to use another app for this :(

I have recently started using this app. I have found it very interesting and useful. Can I suggest something - Could you please add an option to add ' standing charges ' field for each meter. It will mean you can get better understanding of overall cost of energy used per period, including fixed daily charges. I hope you consider this fpr future. Thank you! :-)

I have been using your superb program for many years now.l have recently upgraded my Sam s2 to an s6 and unfortunately I have found no way to make it work or even import my old meters and readings to the program. I tried pressing on the Meters tab but to no avail...:( any help?

The menu issue is such a shame with the S6. Even before Smart Manager restarts the Menu still isn't usable. Hope to use again very soon! Great App when working and will be missed.

This is the greatest application for this purpose I found, after searching a bit. But menu doesn't work on my S6edge+. I tried everything: assist menu, long press, double, triple press ... on all elements. Hope in the future will work. 02.01.2016: Didn't worked by killing Smart Manager, restarts instantly. 29.01.2016 thanks for the reply, my intention was to ask if possible to have a new tab for menu: meters, readings, graph, stats and MENU tab. With all that is still the best app for meters !

S70%
by S####:

This was an amazing app until the new Android version removed the soft menu button. I've tried all suggestions but cannot add a meter. I don't see the issue as all my other apps have updated and have the 3 dots menu available. A real shame as this seems the only consumption app that works with prepaid electricity meters. Update - I have disabled smart manager but it makes no difference.

Great application, where do I donate? Or is there a Pro version?

Q70%

Using SG Note 4. I like the virtual meters as it allows me to calculate the net solar contribution from my battery storage which also charges at night from cheap rate mains. The graphs could be better if they allowed multiple meter traces to be displayed (eg day, night, solar kWh). The legend on the stats chart doesn't say what the difference between red/blue bars means. A built-in gas m3 to kWh calculator function would be nicer than having to work out a ratio manually and input it to the indirect meter.
