R2Mail2 for Android
I have found this to be an excellent email program since installing it back in 2014. No app is perfect and there are one or two niggles, but it covers smime encryption well, handles multiple email accounts in both POP and IMAP form. Well worth it.
Great MUA, but please add an option to store user data on the *external* SD card (or at arbitrary writeable location). Sony Xperia phones usually have a (smaller) internal SD card mounted at /storage/sdcard0, and an external one at /storage/sdcard1. My /storage/sdcard0/Android/data/at.rundquadrat.android.r2mail2/data folder occupies 1.1G already, and I'd prefer my mailboxes stored under /storage/sdcard1 instead.
Only I missing GCM and CHACHA20 algorithm. I always have to type full name when I add a new account (missing default value). And I missing to set delete mail behavior, I prefer to move to the next message (now exit to mail list). Google mail works only with application password (I have two factor authentication).
Simply the best. (some troubele shooting may be necessary for iMap and SMTP settings when using complex loginb with 2FA.) The only way to make this better is if you guys created a switch to turn off the stock Gmail app in Android. A simple built in app locker for mail apps that can not be uninstalled say in Nexus devices.
Client cert selection not working
This is a very well thought out app with so much going for it. This app is a must for anyone who uses or has an interest in encryption. I was a little skeptical as a lot of apps on Google have been abandoned and after paying for pro options on many, purchasing the pro licence key for this app was a gamble, but after reading some of the comments on here I made an informed choice to proceed. The developer does still seem very much active and has future plans for this app. Great purchase either way though.
Those of you, who run into issues with gmail, just allow access of "less secure apps" in you Google settings. Google did something with imap, preventing standard clients accessing their severs, even though encryption is used.
Ssl as default, encrypted pwd as default would be nice. I could not find a way to generate pgp keys, or self signed smime or CA. Great app. Used k9ma** up to now
very good app. lacking ui update.
PGP support is great. I wish it supported Gmail two factor authentication.
First mail app for Android that supports S/MIME and PGP/MIME properly! Actively developed and improved, dev responds very quickly. If it only was OSS'ed... :-)
It is the best mailing app, only the synchronisation seems to be not perfect. Sometimes I have to wait more than 5 minutes (which is my interval) to receive new mails. Maybe that is fixed with the new (nice ui) update. In this case, I will increase the stars to 5 :)
Great email app, the only thing stopping me from buying the full app is the fact that I can't use my Yubikey Neo with this app...
I got an email in my Gmail box stating that login was denied because it came from an app that doesn't fulfill modern security. I played around with the settings and tried googling out why, but failed. Too bad, it looked promising...
Log in to the app, exit and reopen. Now the app does not ask for password. This is absolutely unacceptable. I have emailed the company about it but they dont reply. So now they will get the message the hard way. Now suddenly the MP does not work at all. I can't use R2Mail2, HUH !
As far as I know, this is the only app to support both Exchange and S/MIME. These features are what I needed, and both work well.
Was previously using K-9 mail app but was horrified when I discovered (like many email apps) it stored my email passswords in plain text on phone. I was delighted to find r2mail2 encrypts my passwords (and downloaded email messages) via Android's keystore process. I use a master password to unlock my mail and can set how long I want my decrypted passwords cached in memory. I haven't even used this for sending / receiving encrypted mail yet and I love it already! (Just wish it was open source)
Works with my company's certificates to sign and decrypt emails. Exactly what I was looking for. Exchange and IMAP working great as well.
This is easily the best mail client I have ever used on Android, PGP/mime support is perfect and easy to use too. Really great client.
...and the best Android email client for MS Exchange, because it uses EWS.
good app but not seriously supported - consider before paying for the license
The R2 mail demo worked until I installed the license. Then suddenly my ssl server connections were bad and my personal keys disappeared. What a complete waste of my time.
Nice

The description doesn't state this demo can handle only one account, nor does the description of the license key, so it's obviously a bug. Whenever I try to add a second account, at the very end I can't choose draft, trash, etc. folders and when I create the account without those, it won't show up anywhere, it just gets lost. Also now that I've tried adding a second account, the first stopped working properly, too. The messages show up as random-like plain text. And in the settings this message waits me: "cannot read stored application settings - please reinstall R2Mail2". I've sent error reports... but as far as my experiences with Android application support go I don't really expect anything. It worked for days, I wanted to buy it but I'm glad I haven't bought the license key just yet, probably I'd have just thrown my money out of the window.
Going to buy a license
Program does everything i need it to, and does it well. Updated UI is much better than the previous iteration.
V 2.08 update working well - It finally solved my PGP signatures 'Not Valid' errors. I do miss the verbose progress information that used to be provided when updating/fetching mail. Great Job!

Updated UI is a nice improvement. I use this app for S/MIME (paid for the "full edition" license) and it works pretty well. Best Android experience I have found for encrypted email.
All security features are great. It would be nice when you opened the app that it would block visually the email accounts you have until the password is entered.
Provides s/mime digital signing and encryption of email on android (works with standard certs issued by an authority). It works.
Sign/encrypt/decrypt operations all work flawlessly. Security features are great.
This is a pleasant to use application that does what it says it will - email security. I'm glad I bought it.
No complaints. Exactly what I have been looking for in a mobile email app that supports PGP.
I've been pretty disappointed in Android mail clients so when a friend recommended R2Mail2, I didn't hold out a lot of hope for it. I'm so glad I went ahead and took the plunge anyway. This is a *great* app! It's one of the best - if not THE best - mail application I've used on Android yet (and that includes K9). It's fast, efficient, and can even handle S/MIME. My advice? Try the free version. I guarantee you will buy it within an hour. The only thing I wish it could do, and I'm going to suggest this on the beta group, is encrypt to more than one key for a given email address. That would make this app perfect.
Have been searching all day long for an email app that supports S/MIME and decided to check this one out. Encryption and Digital Signature works just how one would expect it to. The UI seems cluttered and is not nearly as nice and smooth flowing as it should or could be. It would also be nice to have help documentation either in the app or linked within the app. Not everything is super cut and dry and some settings aren't very clear on what they are actually doing. Over all, a solid 3 1/2 stars. Mostly because I can see that the UI has been "in the queue" since March 8, 2014. So either the UI update just hasn't yet come, won't be coming, or has already come and this was the best you could do. Also, the lack of proper documentation or at least explanation for some settings brings the rating down some as well.
... but has troubles displaying some HTML mails and importing self signed smime certificates

while it has a ton of general settings, being more flexible than other android apps, it is NOT my email client of choice. It has two major flaws: IMAP folders are not refreshed automatically and the app does notify you when you recieve a new message. Is this hard to get a good email app these days.
