ATTENTION! After the update with the support for Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) on Sony TVs, you have to start the App Starter for Netflix button manually once to activate its functionality.
Lets you modify the application to be started when you press the NETFLIX button on your TV remote control.
With this app you can re-define the function of the NETFLIX button on TV remote control by yourself. Just start the App "App Starter for Netflix Button" after installation and select the app you want to be started when you click the Netflix button.
This should be compatible with all current "Android TV" TVs from different brands (Sony, Philips, Sharp) which have a Netflix button on the remote control.

Great idea, but didn't work on Sony Bravia. When first opening the app it asks if you want to disable Netflix. Clicking 'yes' caused the app to crash. So I disabled Netflix in the main settings. Then when I went back into the app, it allowed me to select an app to launch when pressing the Netflix button. Unfortunately, it just didn't work.

Thanks. Works perfectly on a Sony X9300D. I use Kodi a lot so this is just what I was after. Would love to be able to re-purpose the Google Play button too if you ever get the opportunity.

I didn't really test it, because I want to keep Netflix, which I subscribe once in a while. Any chance you can program the same behaviour for the Google Play button, present in some of the new Sony Bravia? Thanks.

Good app had been using constantly before Sony update to 6.0 Any plans to make work for the Sony's running Marshmallow 6.0?

Works fine but I had to select "I want to use Netflix" because the second option did not let me any further although I stopped, disabled and removed updates for Netflix.
