Flashlight Widget for Android
Love that this is a widget that can be added. My galaxy s4 came with a flashlight widget and no one else seemed to notice or know where to find it. So useful it is just a push of a button on the home screen and turns on the camera flash as a light. So useful ! It's bright too. Eliminates the need to carry a flashlight as an extra item, this works in a pinch and is convenient.
The delay is fixed, don't really care about the icon size though would prefer the old one. However, the flashlight is so weak now that it uses the "torch" setting instead of the camera flash. Rather disappointed, might have to get a new one.
I'm not sure why, but sometimes the flashlight just turns off before I tell it to. I then need to click on the widget twice, to turn it off and back on again... When this starts happening, it will start "timing out" faster and faster, at first giving me about 30 seconds of flashlight before I need to reset it, later on only giving me about 3 seconds before I need to reset... This does make it unusable I haven't really been able to figure out when it does it and when it doesn't, it seems random. Sometimes it works perfectly... This is on an LG G4 Stylus
I don't particularly care if the widget is small or large but making it centered in relation to icons would be nice. If it's just a 1 x 1 widget why not have it align with app icons? It looks goofy being lower than the app icons it sits next to.
It use to have a brighter light then the one that came pre-installed on phone. Now they have dimmed it and made it to where you cant use it with camera. Now its a useless app and not needed. Way to go uninstalling
Very simple, works great on a Nexus 5x. I was confused because it is a widget, not an app. After installing, you have to add it to your home screen by pressing and holding on an empty spot - then select the little flashlight power button and place it on your home screen.
2 issues with the update, the icon is too big, and a notification pops up every time I use the light saying flash is not available (only happens when camera flash is off) Overall still great app.
Installed this widget and it shows up in my application list under settings but it doesn't appear on my home screens or in my menu. Is this fixable? Until then 1 star
PERFECT. I can't stand torch apps that feel the need to launch a whole useless interface every time you just need a light. Why this one isn't top of the search results I have no idea, I'd rate it higher if I could.
One click flashlight str8 from home screen no ads no bs. Doesnt turn off after pressing power button like it used to.. so rating goes lower until fixed
It's the first flashlight app I tried but it doesn't work at all on my Galaxy Core Prime. No widget on any of my three home screens. Tried restarting to see if it would pop up; no dice. The size in the description is incorrect. It shows as 54kb on my handset. Still small but since it doesn't work it's useless to me. Good luck with it!
This flashlight widget is very bright and it's also very easy to turn on/off. I just wish that there was an option to turn it off by pulling down the menu bar. Even so, I would definitely recommend downloading it.
I've been using this forever. I've had it on multiple phones and loved it. For the first time ever, I see an update. I read what's new and against all better judgement on my part, I update it. Now the button that goes on my home screen is about 3 times bigger than it used to be and looks awful. It is bigger than every other icon there. Sure, the half second delay is gone but now the widget is too. Thanks.
A simple, non-invasive, easy to use widget. 5-stars. (*Note to Google: Stop recommending MORE flashlight apps! How many do you think I *bleeping* need? Morons!)
This app is perfect. Just got an S6 up from an S4 and the torch no longer had a widget option, so I got this! Easy to use, no delay, doesn't turn off when I hit the power button so I don't have to worry about opening random things on my phone while using it as a flashlight. My only wish is that it stayed on when I opened the camera! Sometimes the flash is too slow/not good enough, and the torch does a better job! Thanks for the super simple widget!
A simple light toggle that won't try to profit off you. No loading times can work when other apps are running. It's so perfect I have it on right now.
I just got this and it is literally just what I was hoping to find. No app, ads, large space, or anything else that's unnecessary; just a simple 1x1 widget for a light when I need it. As of right now, disregard all other negative comments about it. And thanks to the maker!
A very nice and simple flashlight widget. I just can't stand having the icon out of line so will look for a different one.
Tiny size, under 30kb. Turns on light and it stays on until you either turn it off or kill your battery. Doesn't do Morse Code or flash to the beat of disco music, nor does it need to. It also doesn't need access to your call log, internet, or contacts because it doesn't need it, no flashlight does...unlike those 19MB flashlight apps, that are half the size of Facebook! ...to turn on one LED?!? No thanks, I'll use this one. Only permission is camera, because that's where the LED is located.
Edited to once again say that I'm still fully satisfied. It's tiny and functional. Exactly what I want. No stupid fluff like compasses, color pickers, ads, etc. I am very minimalist w my apps. Also, as an end user, thank you for explaining device permissions.
THIS. Is a fantastic widget. Barebones, no app, just a Red/Blue & Black Widget that Works; screen on or off, doesn't need Anything, doesn't shutoff as it pleases or interfere with the native pull menu flashlight, Or give you ads, Ever(not that anyone wants to tap an ad while using a flashlight anyway, srsly..). Thank you Sir Medenjak for this efficient light widget.
This is by far the best flashlight widget out there. I've had it for a while now and have seen a few updates. The developer definitely check the reviews and fixes problems. I edited this after a update that fix all my complaints.
What did you do to the widget? Now it's huge. At least give me a choice. The small on was perfect. Now I have this huge red button. Bad news. I hate it. Can you put it back?
I got this app because it was the first one on the list that did not say "contains ads". Gets the job done. Also it is a widget which is much better for a flashlight app. This app does not hide behind peasuasive techniques because it doesn't need to. An honest thank you to the developer for doing things the right way.
Most SmartPhone users care less about the color, strobe & other ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS "fancy" features of most of these apps, completely despising the pop-up ads. This one, as a widget, works perfectly, coming on and staying on when activated... none of the accidental "offs" when you look at your phone cross-eyed, brush it against something, etc. Only VERY minor complaint is that icon doesn't center in the display grid, riding a bit below center.
Blessed me, this flashlight widget not only is convenient but very helpful. As many times as I needed a flashlight this app always been there. It's very helpful to me and I would recommend this app to anyone totally worth the space.
This is a widget, not an app. It provides a single button to toggle the camera's "flash" LED on or off. That's all. No ads, no fancy effects, no baloney, just a button. Very lightweight, elegantly simple, functions perfectly for my needs.
My S7 came with this (or similar one) installed. Simple on and off right from home screen. But the original disappeared and this widget here is exactly the same. After installation, remember to look for it in widgets.
Ignore the others, this is the one you want. Hit a button on your home screen, light goes on. Hit again, light goes off. No ads. Unless you don't know how to add a widget to your home screen, get this one.
I love this... it's small and works really well plus the recent update has gotten rid of the slight delay (which wasn't too painfull anyway) so it now turns on the instant you press the button.
For the first few days or so that I got it, it worked great. But after a while it just stopped working for some reason and I couldn't turn it off.
FOR THOSE OF YOU CRYING ABOUT ICON/WIDGET SIZE. FIX=long press on the icon once it's on your home screen and simply press APP PADDING. Just press it once and then exit out. This resizes the icon to the size of all your other icons. At least it did for me. I usually don't leave reviews, but I was bored and reading through this and it was killing me that so many negative reviews were because of the size of the icon. Some of you should just switch to apple ffs. You need everything just spoon fed to you like a baby lol.
The light wont stay on, it turns itself off between 3 and 10 seconds after activating but the widget icon stays blue as if its still working. Sometimes it stays on for a minute (approximately) but it will inevitably turn off eventually without me doing anything. Really frustrating the amount of times i've stood on something painful because of this problem. The last phone i had this problem with was the same model so maybe this app need some LG compatibility work done.
All I needed and wanted was a button on my phone to touch to turn on the led light. This one is great. No muss, no fuss, no unnecessary functions that I'll never use to slow me down turning on a light when I need it.
I have used this widget for a long time, but I'm not a fan of the huge icon now. It would be nice to have an option for large or small icons for the widget.
The older size was small and great, very not in the way. This new bigger sized widget is too big and annoying. Probably going to download a different widget now.
This is perfect! So simple and does exactly what it says it does! It even does it CORRECTLY!!!
Simple and works. No more lag with latest update. Bigger widget doesn't bother me, but still slightly off centre... I'll deal cos it's otherwise great!
It's really a great utility. Working as described. Working in background and doesn't turn off after screen lock- that is really very helpful while using it as a torch on the roads.

Definitely try this flashlight widget if you're looking for one. I did, and I never regretted it. Just one thing, when I turn the flashlight on using the widget, and then swipe down to see the notifications, and tap to turn flash off, the widget stays coloured as if I never turned the flashlight off. Not sure if you can fix this, not even sure if it's just me... But it's not a problem, I just tap the widget and it turns correct colour for being off.
