About Blind Communicator
OpenSource launcher for blind people for using smartphones and tablets. The launcher has a voice guide that tells the user everything that it's happening in the device (screen off/on, screen rotation, incoming call, etc.). This launcher is compatible with TalkBack.
The app allows the user:
- Listen to music
- Use a voice recorder
- Send and receive SMS
- Receive and make calls
- Create and delete alarms
- Create and delete contacts
- Browse the web with Google engine as an a starting point
How to use it:
1) Slide up and down to browse the menus
2) Slide right to select an option
How can i type a message? You have four ways available:
- Use your device keyboard
- Use the voice recognition system with up to 10 possible interpretations to select from (may require Internet).
- Use the touchscreen and slide up and down through characters and symbols and slide right to input the selected character.
- Use the traditional software keyboard with TalkBack activated.
How to manage a call:
- Slide up to answer the call
- Slide down to end the call
TO UNINSTALL: Go to Settings/System Settings/Applications/Blind Communicator/Uninstall
NOTE 1: In Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher, you have to set the way you want to answer a call by going to Settings/Accessibility/Answering/ending calls.
NOTE 2: If you have a device with Android 4.4 (KitKat) or higher, you must set Blind Communicator as your App for messages. To do so, you must go to Settings/Default applications/Messages and then select Blind Communicator from the list. Also, you will need a TTS software installed in your device in order to this App to work. You can install, for example, Google TTS for free at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tts.

Firstly I would like to appreciate for the idea which you got. The apps are opening when I am sliding but blind users will face problem as the don't know which app they are opening because it doesn't provide any sound

I was really excited to hear this was a free open source app however it doesn't work on the samsung 7 edge there is a massive flaw in the user swiping an icon and waiting for a reply FYI I used the two fingers as described would be brilliant if it worked on samsung 7 edge i think it needs more work before being released.

I like the app overall. It would be easier to have a large text list instead of icons. The user could then slowly drag their finger from the top to the bottom of the screen and select an apo they want once it was read out. Multiple pages would work.

Please add pause feature to music menu i am using this app for my father he is blind he whenever he wants to listen to a tract n pause it for a while but there is only stop option either you can go to next tract or start again

The app is obviously flawed. It would talk until i changed the messages default app to Blind Communicator, then it no longer read the screen even after changing the default back.

DO NOT WORK. No funciona bien. Una aplicación muy verde. No la puede usar un niño ciego sin acompañamiento porque se cuelga, y ademas en varios menúes no hace lo que se le pide. This app need more testing before been used by a blind child.

This app is very good for visually impaired people as it is being used by my uncle.. but I have a query as to if user wants this functionality for watsapp also like after opening watsapp via blind communicator it does not read messages.. can you suggest some way?

Installed on my phone to test for my sister. Now I cannot get the app to close or do anything!! It will not move when swiping up or down or left to right or any direction!!!!! No I am going to be forced to take my phone to the phone store so I can get this crap off and probably loose all my data. FYI! Forget this app and search for Ray!!!!

How can I answer a call from the blind comminctor...?? THE way that mentioned in the app is networking. ( To move from the down to the up)

Thanks lot for this wonderful app.. its very much useful to me.. a little issue is only iam able to make calls easily but unable to abort the call after our conversation is over. Changed and checked in by changing the mobile devices but unable to abort the call.. kindly fix the issue.. Thank You..
