PexPix Autism (Formerly PecsPics) is a picture application that allows you to set a picture of your choosing to a square. (Generally items that your child is familiar with and would like to be able to request) Then you can record your own word for that item in the picture in any language you would like. Once your voice is recorded the child can simply tap the picture to play your recording. Therefore being able to make a request with your own words.
This is created for the correct usage of pecs and that is to use pictures as your child's vocabulary. This is often mixed up with using pictures for the parent or therapist to tell the child what they want the child to do. That is not pecs.
This is created for non-verbal children with Autism or other learning disabilities.

*This is my first app ever created. I decided to make this because I was tired of having to pay so much money for applications and device's that are for autism. I do not understand why these companies think that when you have an autistic child that you have the finances for something like this!

That device is $230.00 USD! I have always wanted something like that for my son who is on the spectrum and non-verbal. After seeing that price and realising that nothing is going to be done for this at a lower price I decided to make one myself. *

Not helpful, more trouble than other apps, paid version may be better but not risking it. Thanks for the effort though.

Matt, good effort but has some usability issues from my viewpoint. Getting recording to work is clunky...start/stop is difficult to control. When playing back it seems to loop, replaying until I kill the app. Could I make a suggestion please? When the child selects the picture, if the system expanded it to fullscreen he could hand the screen to his parent as if it were a pecs card. Simple. The audio facilty could be an optional extra facility. What do you think? All the best. Georges Dad.

It's awful. I can't open, load it, I keep getting error messages. I can't see the pictures. Can't do or see anything.

While trying to make an app like this I found this one. Great idea but not user friendly, I cant get anything to load on my Asus. If its too difficult for me I know my child would have problems. Great idea just needs some work, Ty for sharing this app and I will keep checking for issues being fixed and will try again later.

I haven't figured everything out yet but it's definitely user error. I think it's a great simple inexpensive use of a pecs system. Is it possible to re record for the pictures and or change the pictures out? I'm so thankful for awesome parents like you who make a difference for families like ours.
