CW Koch Morse Code Trainer App for Android
CW Morse code trainer app using an approximation to the Koch method, focusing on aural and reflex rather than rote memorization of dots and dashes. You learn to recognize the characters aurally at a full 20 WPM rather than trying to learn the dots and dashes at 5 WPM and gaining speed with practice. It's an efficient method for learning Morse code and everyone has their own learning rate.
This app includes a CW Morse code trainer where you learn 1 character, then 2 characters, then 3 characters, etc. Once you gain 90% accuracy within each set, you are presented with a new character.
This app uses a game-like approach. You are presented with a keypad, a character is played in Morse code, and you must then tap the matching character on the keypad. Note that only the characters you have learned will be enabled. The game is very easy at first, but quickly gets interesting as you progress and learn more characters. Once you gain 90% proficiency with a character set, a new character is introduced. Press and hold any alphanumeric key to hear that character in Morse code.
As a self-test you can choose the Copy Pad, on which you can write the character presented to you. This does NOT attempt to recognize your handwriting, but rather serves as a self attest to your accuracy.
When you restart the app, you will begin from the last learned character.
This app also includes a straight key transmit feature. A character is played in Morse code, and you must tap out that character with the code key. You can choose to see the code you are tapping out or the characters you have learned. You may also turn the sound of the characters off. Additionally, you may replace the straight key image with the International Morse code chart. Speed is limited to 20 WPM. If you can send 20 WPM with a straight key, then you probably do not need this app!

The best - and the correct way in learning the morse code is listening for char SOUND (RYTHM)
Unfortunately, the slurring issue mentioned previously makes the app pretty much useless for now (Nexus 4, CM 12.1) EDIT 13.12.2015: It's gotten better since the recent update but the problem persists. However, by now I'd call it at least somewhat usable.
Good concept, but the app often fails to produce patterns correctly at speeds above 13 wpm on Samsung galaxy note 3. The tones are frequently slurred together so character recognition is impossible. Make sure you're handling audio scheduling properly, or just use pre baked audio files for each character. Would be interested in trying again if this bug is fixed.

I've been using this app for about a week and like the technique of listening and then selecting the correct letter. I believe there is a slurring issue with the tones that has me hitting the resume button multiple times till the letter is correctly played. I've tried several other apps but like this 'game' feature of learning to receive and transmit the code. If only the slurring issue could be fixed.
