BATHING WATER AND HEALTH

The app is for use by Environmental Health Departments in Ireland to assess Bathing Water Quality. The decision tree is based on the revised Table 1 (Action levels in response to microbiological sample results) contained on page 6 of the Health Service Executive 'Bathing Water and Health Document- April 2015'. Users are required to enter microbiological laboratory results for E.coli and Intestinal Enterococci/ 100ml. Actions such as beach closure, advisory notices or resampling are then recommend by the App based on the level of microbiological contamination. The purpose of this is to give an appropriate response to microbiological contamination in sea water and protect the health of bathers.
