Socializer - Kurtis Chen

Socializer is an app that allows people to carry out conversations without even having to lift their
eyes from their screens. Users enter what the other person says, and the app returns what the
user should say in response. Greetings, such as “Hi” or “Hello” are met with responses such as
“It's so nice to see you. Tell me about your day.” Any questions (which the app detects by
looking for “?” marks) are met with the response “You can find that answer in Jesus” or “You
know what, I don't really remember.”
Otherwise, responses to any other dialogue are extremely generic — with the goal of making
sense in as many scenarios as possible — and reflect the extremely generic responses many
people use when communicating digitally.
The user is incentivized to make as many communications as possible and to respond to the
other person quickly as possible. Socializer accomplishes this by generating one of two
messages: “Hurry up, you’re being awkward and no one likes you,” and “Wow you're such a
great conversationalist! Keep it going.”
People trust many aspects of their lives to mobile apps. What about their real world
conversations?
