About Handy ELA
Handy ELA allows users to type in sentences of all kinds and discover the literary elements hidden within the text. A new teacher emerges within the palm of your hand to ease the pain of learning the intricacies of the English language.
It is highly recommended for users to create an account so their work will be saved. After creating a new account, a user will type in a simple sentence they suspect to be a metaphor and then press “clue me in.” The app will then tell the user if the sentence is a metaphor and the reasons why the specific sentence includes a metaphor. The breakdown box indicates which nouns are being compared to one another. This handy tool app conveniently saves the user’s sentences.
When the user is ready to review their work, they simply click on the “All Sentences” box and they will be able to view all of their previous inputted sentences. Once the user selects a sentence from the drop down list, the breakdown comparison explanation will fill the original box.
The capability to decipher a simile and personification will come in future updates.
This app is designed by Danielle R. Ellis- an educator who wants to make English Language Arts accessible to everyone. If you have any questions or suggestions for improving this educational tool, please contact her at msdrellis@gmail.com. Thank you for downloading this app!
