About The BabelSheep App
Using the power of BabelSheep.com The BabelSheep App will translate any English text to Cumbrian.
Not only that, but by using voice recognition you can speak to the BabelSheep and it will speak the phrase back to you in Cumbrian. (Note that Android's Cumbrian accent isn't great, though.)
Originally inspired by Douglas Adams' Babel Fish and based on The GonMad Cumbrian Dictionary - the internet's first and most popular Cumbrian Dictionary - the BabelSheep website has been used to translate well over a million web sites and tens of thousands of passages of text.
Now you can have that power on your phone or tablet thanks to The BabelSheep App.
The app allows you to send your translations by text, email and Twitter. Or you can simply copy and paste to use elsewhere.
When Douglas Adams first wrote about the Babel Fish - from which the BabelSheep name is derived - we'd like to think this is pretty close to what he imagined. Though less yellow and less wet, admittedly.
# Permissions #
The BabelSheep App requires access to you mobile data or WiFi connection in order to access the BabelSheep.com online translator. If you use the voice recognition and text-to-speech functionality, the app may also access Google's voice processing systems online. The app also needs to read your phone status - as all apps do - and access your phone storage in order to be installed.
# Privacy #
Anything you submit for translation is passed to the BabelSheep.com webserver for processing. Other than standard http (web) logging, we do not store this information. As the requests are logged by our webserver, however, you are advised not to submit sensitive data for translation.
