TAKING A BEATING

Pain and suffering is a universal language that we all can relate to and understand. The first part of this book explores the pain, suffering and struggles that often accompany trying to receive God’s best while facing one disappointment after another. The theme is probed through an expository examination of some eventful episodes in the life of the biblical patriot named Jacob whose name was later changed to Israel. Eventually the worst beating of his life, which occurred during a stressful night, was followed by a morning when he received a great blessing that changed his life forever.
The latter portion of this book chronicles a young family’s three year struggle with a terminal disease. A young wife and mother of four children, was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer at the age of twenty-nine and was given fifteen days to live by the attending physicians. After chemotherapy and radiation treatment the disease eventually went into remission but eventually returned and claimed her life in a matter of months. This book explores the ordeal through the eye of a grieving husband whose only desire was to die at that point, but for the sake of the small children, knew that he had to find some way to live.
