A Look Inside

In a society that is becoming increasingly dependent on advanced technology, understanding how common appliances and machines work is critical. Although they are surrounded by quirky widgets and complex technology, most children, particularly at the elementary and middle school levels, have little knowledge about the inner mechanics of these devices. Unfortunately, at an age when curiosity should be encouraged, the lack of effective delivery on these machines only suppresses children's curiosity and makes them complacent about technology. At heart, everyone is a scientist and engineer, curious to take things apart and learn how they work. So, A Look Inside aims to give elementary and middle school children the opportunity to explore inventions and machines and their inner working. Through images of 3D-constructed models, users can click on inventions to delve deeper into their respective parts and learn about they work through informational blurbs, satisfying both the “take-it-apart” mindset and the knowledge gap in children.
