Raksha app - Ensuring women's safety. Just at the press of a button your near and dear ones know your location. Your selected contacts can see your location and you can even ask them to show theirs. A distress signal just by pressing a single key sends out a loud buzzer to your near and dear ones. Your parents need not worry all the time now. You as a woman need not worry about security. Even if the Raksha App is switched off and isn't running, pressing the volume key for just three seconds alerts the specific contacts you have chosen beforehand. Your location is sent to them on a map which sends them your exact whereabouts.

To secure the Indian streets for our daughters, sisters, mothers, Children, friends, girls and all women who are out there working, in schools, colleges, bus-stands, shops, mall, trains and so on. Meenakshi Lekhi, BJP spokesperson & Member of Parliament, conceptualized this Mobile app where everyday technology can be used to enhance the safety and security of women.
From ancient times, Indian women are a symbol of power & knowledge. They are already at par or beyond men when it comes to their capabilities. All they need is a secure environment to grow and work in. Thus BJP Bharatiya Janata Party believes that there is a requirement for a paradigm shift in thinking itself. The shift has to be a move from empowerment to 'Secure/Save my space'. By securing and saving the space for women society will be empowered as we recognize women as the embodiment of power 'Shakti'. Traditionally in Sanskrit grammar all words relating to power are feminine gender. In recognition of our cultural ethos we at Bharatiya Janata Party have decided to launch this application as a step towards women's safety and security named as Raksha. After the recent popular case of girl Nirbhaya rape case in Delhi, it makes more sense to have this app. Currently we are also trying to link this app with Delhi Police and then in future we may link this to Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Lucknow, Noida, Gurgaon, Hyderabad as well

First the app works on internet. What if the app needs to be activated at no internet zone. Second, the receiver of the message shouldve installed the same app. What if the person to whom the message to be recived has non android phone? Solution: add the sms support to the otherwise in effective app!

This app does not provides the facility if someone has changed her phone number then one cannot change the details of the phone number in this app's settings.

The app is nice but get crash sometimes. It would be more helpful if it provides facility to call emergency helpline numbers. Or a simple feature like nearby user alert like we have on help app would have been awesome to use and to be safe.

Worst App.. Time waste... It is showing check internet connection, and I am not able to register. Idea is good but maintenance is very poor. Need to implement...
