About Pair pattern – Elementary math

An early introduction to algebraic thinking – these sums ask children to derive the relationship between pairs of numbers. Easy level puzzles are appropriate for children of classes I-II, but the difficult level puzzles can floor even middle school children! This math exercise for children is very useful for classroom usage as well as math workout at home.

This math puzzle comes from Teachbasix: creators of many logical math puzzles like Magic Square, Magic Triangle, Pair Pattern, Multiplication Kakuro (all paid) and Shikaku and Nonogram (both free). All of them are great classroom resources for teaching primary grade children. All these puzzles hone your child’s logical reasoning abilities as well as calculation skills.

These math puzzles are more effective for math skill improvement than plain logic puzzles like Sudoku or Kenken – because these puzzles ask your children to do some mental calculation too, in addition to employing logic.

The rules are simple for a child to understand. The right hand side numbers are related to the left hand side numbers. Observe the three pairs of numbers carefully and find the relationship. Use the same relationship to find the right-hand side number of the fourth pair. Finding the relationships requires ability to recognize patterns and spot algebraic relationships between numbers. Deriving the fourth number based on that relationship requires mental math skills.

These puzzles are made by the creators of the award-winning Levelfield School. They are extensively used in primary grade math classes there. Not only they have proved enormously effective in improving the logical and calculation skills of children, they’re fun as well. Give your child this gift to wean her away from TV and to see her analytical and math abilities soar!

There are unlimited number of puzzles. You can monitor your child’s accuracy and average time taken to solve sums in each difficulty level. The badge system (silver, gold, platinum) provides a quick preview of your child’s progress.

This app is nominally priced. We believe an ad-free experience is imperative for your child to focus without any distraction.

It is amazingly fun to spot number relations. Good thing is that it has unlimited number of sums (unlike other apps) and the difficulty levels are finely graded.

Y70%

You have to find the common relationship between three pairs of numbers. Quite interesting.

U70%
by U####:

Its a very addictive app so one gets to the platinum level very quickly. I wished there were a level beyond platinum. Great app.

U70%
by U####:

Innovative app that helps in recognising relationships between numbers and hence an early intro to functions and algebraic thinking.

N70%
by N####:

By asking kids to spot relationship between three pairs of numbers, this app gives them an early introduction to algebraic thinking.

N70%
by N####:

Obviously a five-star product. But the time limit for getting bonus stars should be increased for difficult levels. Otherwise I thought it was one of the best math apps available. I would like to see some apps for pre-primary kids by these developers.
