About TrackMyPhotos: sync gpx

Sync photos with GPX.

The app TrackMyPhotos sync photos with recorded gpx file. It aim to sync photos from DSLR, Digital Camera without GPS.

The app will match the Exif date/time with the gpx log to find the location where the photos were taken. The photos will be copied to a new sub-folder, with updated Latitude and Longitude tags.

For the gpx source, the App "My Tracks" by Google is a good chooice, alternatively you can use portable GPS logger.

- Copy your photos and gpx file to your Android device.
- In the app, select the photos folder.
- Select gpx file.
- Tap on the Sync button.

After sync., you can view the photos on map using my another app geoLLERY (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pkg.geollery) to check the location. It can also manually edit the Exif geo tags to fine tune the location.

Tested gpx source:
- Exported from "My Tracks" by Google. After recorded, select MENU -> Save to external storage -> Save as GPX.
- gpx generated using desktop application gpicsync and portable GStarz GPS logger.

Tested photos source:
- Nikon D700
- Olympus E-PL3
- Canon EOS-M

Please help to improve it: No matter success or fail, please leave me comments to state what device you use, gpx source and camera to take the photos.

If fail, you can help me to improve it by sending me email (androidsbuddy@gmail.com), with photos and gpx attached, and state what device you use. thx...thx...thx.

It was so simple I put the gpx file and my photos in the same directory on my Asus tablet. I had to wait a little while but bingo there it was a track with points. It took me a little while to realise that the photos had been copied and saved in a sub folder with the exif info updated. Only thing I would like is bigger thumb pics. I would happily of paid for this app and will in future. Thanks very much

I was able to connect the pictures on the external drive using pjoto gallery. I was not able to find an option to load a gpx track from the external drive. Disappointing, since the app appears to be what I need.

I echo the suggestions made previously: Add altitude. Add RAW support. Backup optional (and label the BU folder as "Backup" explicitly. Add landscape mode. In addition: 1) be able to enlarge the tiny photo thumbnail in the lower corner 2) make it easier to select a specific photo from among more than one shot at the same location 3) support use of maps instead of just satellite photos, and support offline maps such as Google Maps offline - Offline operation is important in an app like this. 4) be able to see a full screen version of the photo, or see all of the EXIF info, at a click 5) MUST have a time offset option, to offset the camera time. Some cameras use GMT, some a local time zone. It is very important to add this option. I also echo the thanks: this is the only app I've found that allows simple merging of geotag info into photos based on a recorded GPX track, no matter where that track came from. There are lots of apps to choose among for logging the track, and some give control over the logging interval. But none do what this does, so thanks for that and please add the suggested changes. Four stars for being unique and useful. Please keep improving this.

Hi, thanks for making this, and please keep developing it. As far as I can tell there is no other app available at the moment that will lace gpx info into EXIF tags. All other geotagging apps require the use of a second desktop application. Some requests: 1 - Please add support for tagging .RAW files. In my particular case Sony .ARW files. 2 - Option to toggle the subfolder duplication of files. Just edit the EXIF of the originals. 3 - Add altitude to EXIF. The same photo tagged with the same GPX file in lightroom will add altitude to the EXIF info as well as GPS. TrackMyPhotos won't. 4 - Operate in landscape mode. Important for tablets. Currently locks to portrait mode. 5 - RAW! (.ARW, .CRW, .NEF etc) Thanks :)
