ما هي الرؤية السائدة للحضارة؟ وما هي نظرتها للإنسان والعقل والأخلاق والإله والدين؟ وما أثر ذلك على مستقبل المجتمعات؟
وكيف نوجد بديلا صحيحا لهذا الطرح؟
هذا البحث محاولة متواضعة لخلق تنوير حضاري على أساس معرفي سليم، مستمد من أصل هويتنا الحضارية ومستفيد من المناطق الإيجابية المتواجدة فى الطرح الغربي التنويري (السائد)، ولهذا فتلك المحاولة هي لخلق طرح حضاري " متكامل "، لا بديل عن التنوير الحالي بشكل ينسخه تماما ويردم كل ماوصلت إليه من نتائج، ولا هو نتاج لحالة عاطفية ونفسية تدفعنا إلى العودة للماضي والتمسك الحرفي بكل ماهو تراثي وقديم أيضا، فليس كل حاضر تقدمًا وليس كل ماضي تأخرًا حضاريًا، والعكس صحيح ..
البحث يطل على الحضارة الغربية من خلال منظور المفكر الراحل عبد الوهاب المسيرى مع إضافة خاصة تتمثل فى محاولة لإكمال الدور الذى ينبغي أن يضعه أى باحث مهتم بالعدالة وسبل التقدم الإنساني على عاتقه، وهو ألا يقتصر دوره فقط على مجرد شرح متون سابقيه" كالمسيري فى بحثنا هذا"، بل ينبغي أن يضيف الباحث شيئًا مهمًا فى نفس الطريق والمسار .. ففي بحثنا محاولة لإكمال الطريق لا على هدي المسيرى الشخص، ولكن على هدي المنهج الذى سار عليه المسيرى وغيره من المفكرين الموضوعيين فى النقد والتحليل، وهو طريق العقل والتفكير المنطقى السليم. وعلى نفس الغاية التى تربطنا بهم؛ وهي الوصول بالمجتمع الإنساني لغايته العليا.
