D'où vient l'ombre ?

Les ombres sont partout. Ce n'est pas toujours facile de comprendre ce phénomème. Qu'est ce qui crée l'ombre d'un objet? Comment expliquer sa forme? Pourquoi cette zone sombre attachée à l'objet évolue au fil de la journée?

Cette animation a pour objectif de répondre à ces questions. Le décor est simple pour pouvoir isoler les effets de la source lumineuse (ici le soleil) sur les objets (ici l'arbre avec ou sans la maison). En déplaçant le Soleil l'ombre s'allonge, rétrécit ou disparaît. La lumière se propage en ligne droite. Il est donc aisé de comprendre que l'ombre reproduit la silhouette de l'objet, plus ou moins déformée selon la position du Soleil.

This animation aims to answer these questions. The decor is simple, to isolate the effects of the light source (the sun here) on objects (here the tree with or without the house). By moving the sun shadow grows, shrinks or disappears. Light travels in a straight line. It is therefore easy to understand that reproduces shadow silhouette of the object, more or less distorted by the Sun's position.
