I've never bothered to review an app before, but this one is so good I just have to. I've tried a lot of ways to teach myself Japanese over the years but everything I've found relies on either rote memorization of kanji, or conversational speaking with no reading whatsoever. this is the only thing I've found that successfully bridges the gap between speaking and reading. it doesn't force you to memorize kanji (or even hiragana) but you will pick up the reading as you go, as is should be.

Good app. Taught me a few sentences. Only down side was teaching me to use the japanese keyboard never happened. I dont know how to make smaller つ. Also to unlock other sections is about 14 dollars. Not sure if it is worth that much for a phone app where i'm uncertain of its credibility.

Not a bad app at all, but you'll learn a lot more (and pay a lot less) with the $10 Human Japanese app. $15 is too much for the content here.

Great for learning at your own pace. A little annoying that you only get 6 lessons for free, but from what I've seen, it'll be worth paying for the upgrade.

I love the L-Lingo apps; I've used several. However, this one really disappointed me. The spoken Japanese is different than the romanization provided. For example, the spoken Japanese says, "onna no hito" while the romanji says, "onna no nin". Additionally, "onna no hito"? Who says that, ever? I didn't get past the first lesson because I became so frustrated.

C70%
by C####:

I've learned more Japanese in this free app than I did in a whole semester of Japanese. Using a similar teaching method as the well known Rosetta Stone. Instead of learning all the minor details, your thrown right in to learning, speaking and associating text with images. This is a step up from what you normally find as far language learning apps out there. In a world that is evermore increasingly moblie and fast paced being able to learn on the go will become ever more popular!

C70%
by C####:

Trial version is okay. Has romaji and kanji, but why not hiragana and katakana? Misspelling of "otokonohito". App shows as "otokono nin".

C70%
by C####:

I love the method they use, but as the one below me said there are mistakes since the first lesson, so you waste time to check the words given by the program...

L70%
by L####:

Its meant for ppl learning so why write in kanji? If in hiragana would aid reading and able understand words better..

U70%
by U####:

Multimedia method; teaches reading, listening, and entire sentences in Japanese. Will be hard to understand Japanese script, but gives you audio and choice to select romaji, and kanji is what Japanese use. Paid version can be worth it and it's among the best in the Android market, but they should add more lessons and vocabulary.

C70%
by C####:

good idea really get how they change the way you learn, but shouldn't have any typos and needs hiragana

C70%
by C####:

Will be buying the paid version

Like rosetta stone in your pocket...plus much much cheaper...

C70%

This is similar to Rosetta Stone. It's a nice way for beginners to jump start on Japanese. I'd like to buy the full version when I get the chance.
