My Observer® Mobile for Android
The app is clunky on Android. It doesn't render to the full size of your display. Basically identical to what you have on the wall but super tiny. Works as well as the Ecobee3 but less refined. Sucks that you supposedly have to use this thermostat if you want your equipment to function as intended.
Super tiny display. Almost needed a magnifying glass. Schedule setup is really clunky. Couldn't set up new thermostat in app... had to go to web. Rating of 3 is a bit generous.
Doesn't integrate with Last Pass autofilling credentials. Also doesn't allow copy/paste into password field.
This app is horrible to use. It is a replica of the interface but the screen and buttons are so small, it is basically impossible to easily use. Our furnace guy put this in and got rid of our old Web based thermostat and app, and I really want my old one back.
Thermostat indicates fan is set to auto regardless of setting. Sometimes sets thermostat to a different temperature then I set it to using this app. It would be nice to access the installer options by holding fan button on the app.
As other reviews have stated, it does not communicate well. You change settings on the app and they do not reflect on the thermostat or vice versa. If I change the temp on the thermostat the app does not reflect this. It has been pretty useless which is really a bummer because tempstar is a very high quality HVAC company. Their equipment is top notch and mimics their brother company, Carrier. What upsets me the most is that they have put tons of R&D into the carrier thermostats but they do not work on tempstar equipment. The carrier thermo and app even work with alexa now. Please fix this baby up temp star.
Easy to use
I couldnt even get signed in...disappointing
Thermostat indicates fan is set to auto regardless of setting. Does not show the symbol indicating the furnace is on/burner lit. It would be nice to access the installer options by holding fan button on the app. Other than that it's perfect
On the Windows & Android app, the Fan Mode always displays "Auto" regardlee of the actual setting. Other than that, it works fine.
Enough said.
Great having the ability to start my a/c before coming home however twice I have used the app to turn on the unit only to come home and find it still off.

HVAC doesn't start running when using the app. Example- this morning I awoke to 62. I wanted to warm the house to 70 before crawling out of bed. Used the app to raise the temperature to 70, waited about 5 minutes, and heater never started running. Went to thermostat and it displayed my request but it wasn't until I tapped a key on the display that the heater turned on. It totally defeats the purpose of the app if you have to make physical contact with the thermostat to make the HVAC run. It has been like this since at least the last update.
