Lovecraft Collection ® Vol. 1 for Android
Fantastic. Only complaint is that some of the art spoils the ending and the music doesn't loop very smoothly (although it only needed to loop once). Overall an amazing job and I can't wait for their next volumes. If they manage to tackle some of Lovecrafts bigger and more famous stories I would happily pay for an ad free version. Only on the longer stories though, as short stories such as this one don't necessitate it.
After I have it installed I was thinking that probably I wont have that for long.I thought that its gonna be boring, less interactive, full of ads and you need to pay for every single page... I was wrong. Woooow I said when I started going through the pages. I become really curious what story will bring next and I loved it the way the app was made. Great design. Fantastic drawnings, sound and music in the background. Great stuff. Fully deserve top review. Just please make more of it.
Not my favourite story from HPL collection but overall concept of the animated and enriched with music storytelling can be quite appealing. Only issues I've noticed would have been the lack of page number when reading and too long time to start the app. Also it would be nice to either save the page where You finished last time or add a bookmark system.
Well done. Keep making more if you can. You guys are clearly dedicated love craft fans. Some of the art in the story may ruin the ending for some, such as the beast laying face down and the hands. I wouldn't show much of the beast but hair, claws, eyes, and teeth till very end. Still great job and keep making more. Especially the outsider.
The sound added to the story immensely. I had read this before but the way the visuals and audio were used to make it more suspenseful makes it even better than read the story normally. Can't say what this format would do to other Lovecraft stories but I loved this one. Great moves, keep it up, proud of you!
Can really give you the chills. Atmosphere is awesome, music is spot on, writing can be a bit too stylish for me but still good. At first I thought navigation would be an issue since it lacks bookmarks for jumping to pages, but it's pretty short for it to cause any issues. Overall, it's awesome. Would love to read more. Definitely worth your time.
I was so saddened when I realised there was just one story. I'm so very eagerly waiting for an update. Please come back to us soon. If I had any money I wouldn't hesitate the slightest to support you. Incredibly great job, I mostly never leave reviews, more out of laziness than lack of satisfaction. Thank you all so much. Catalina.
This story app is AWESOME! The motion and lighting really add to the spooky atmosphere of the story. Great way to present this classic horror tale. I really liked the interactive part of the app. The way things moved and jumped accentuated all aspects of the story. I can't wait for the next ones to come out! Hopefully it is not too far from now.
Man!! I would give this 10 stars if play store allows me. From the beginning to end, i clutched my phone like there's no tomorrow. The darkness, the gripping & intense story with such amazing interactive background & music makes me looking forward to volume 2 & 3!
I got it for free so not sure how I'd had liked the pricing. It is after all a free book. How much the added stuff is worth is really hard to judge. I block ads so not sure how bad they are. I will however seriously consider buying other novels if they release any. For now all I can do is give it a good rating.
Loved the spine tingling effects and sounds. It was ad if I were living it ad I was immersed in the story!!! It was truly an amazing experience!! Can't wait for volumes 2 and 3 to be released!! It should be more realistic and bone rattling! The wait is going to be so difficult, cause of vol. 1!! Anticipation is the hardest to endure.....thanks h. p for your brilliant imagination!!!! Axniously awaiting vol. 2
I downloaded this on my Asus ZenPad S 8.0 running Android Marshmallow 6.0. It was mostly fine except that the top of the page was slightly cut off. It didn't seem to be a big deal, until I tried using the option function located on the middle bottom portion of the screen. Once that page opened full screen, I found it impossible to close again. I'm guessing that the touch control to close it was at the top of the screen. So the only possible way to go back to the story was to force close the app. Please fix!
Love love loove! The idea of this it's very neat and entertating. What I dont like is the drawings or the sound effects. Not saying get rid of them just change them to better match the story. The music is pretty decent overall iam glad I downloaded it
I really enjoyed it! However I found the picture of the 'beast' at the end kind of ruined it a little. I liked the suspense there though. The music was really nice. I would have preferred a focus of imagery from a first person perspective considering its a first person narrative. But the art style is wonderful and so is the music! :)
This interactive story is so well crafted, sounds and sights carefully interwoven with the text in order to amplify the original story. Really recommended! I hope they can do that to the more classical Lovecraft tales too, such as Call of Cthulhu, A Shadow out of time and the Whisperer in the Darkness.
The music and images do help in enhancing the atmosphere, and are undoubtedly high quality. However, sometimes the scenes play out too late, and sometimes too soon. Not a bug, just that the text and the scene presented don't mix that well. Also, the cursive writing is incredibly annoying and hard to read, and the early skull and laughter scene seem ill-fitting for a Lovecraftian tale. Nonetheless, looking forward to more.
The visual imagry doesn't lineup with the imagry in the text. This is most noticible when the text says, "The creature had black eyes with no noticible Iris that contrasted with the white of the rest of the creature." Where the visual accompaniment to this was eyes with visable irises set against a black background. This kind of inconsistency really took me out of the dread of the story.
I haven't read any Lovecraftian horror, but this is amazing! As I read throughout, I could feel immense tension building and I was holding my breath as I turn the pages. I love everything in here! The art, the music and effects... superb! Can't wait for the next!! ^_^
First time in four or five years I post a review, but the app deserves it. This is the way to read Lovecraft and you should try it out.Unfortunately there is only one story which is over in minutes and leaves you with a hunger for more.Hope the next chapters will be released! The only thing that maybe could be changed is the ilustrations so that they are darker and fit the mood set by the music.
Well played, devs! Great use of touch input, tilt, graphic layers, etc.. That It doesn't line up with my own personal imaginings of HPL's universe doesn't make me feel confrontational. On the contrary - I dig this vision. I don't "disagree" with it. I enjoy the painterly style and the drawings are technically excellent. A very "visually tactile" app. The fine illustrations do justice to the source material and I would love to see more.
Excellent app, with great illustrations, music and design. There are some problems with paragraph separations, the way how the text was cut (at least in Spanish) is not the best. However, the experience is awesome. I highly recommend the use of headphones for a better immersion. Excellent job, I really want more of this collection.
The imagery and music set an amazingly creepy atmosphere but did not take away from the writings creativity. It reads a little like an interactive comic but the imagery paced itself in such a way that let the readers imagination fill in the gaps with Lovecraft's fear filled darkness. Definitely worth a read.
Cool to have the story in 3 languages. Beautiful graphic. It brings a different thrill to the reading. In some places though (in the French version at least), the text was cut at awkward moments, diminishing the surprise. But I definitely recommend the app!
Pretty good and well-designed app. Quite an immersive experience, with the music and some interactive graphics. The story itself was not particularly interesting though. I would look forward to further Volumes 2 and 3, though it appears that development of it has been abandoned.
Not entirely speechless I mean I would want to tell everyone about this and I want to compliment like everything is amazing: The animation, the music, the font, and of course the story made by HP Lovecraft. I can't find the words to describe how awestruck I actually am right now. Majestic. Truly Majestic.
I'm a very big fan of the lovecraftian works. I had never read this book before, and so this was truly amazing. I could even here background noises such as flickering flames and dripping water. This is a must-have for all true fans.
A well made app that takes an incredible story, and tears forth even more enjoyment through the stimulation of multiple senses. I found this reading to be the best reading I've ever had of this wonderfully frightening, age old story. Before today I hadn't imagined such an increase in enjoyment plausible - it's hard to improve on something so deftly crafted... Yet these developers succeeded. Well done, indeed!
I really enjoyed the interactive components, this app made reading a lot more entertaining. My only issues are there is no way to skip the app opening, which take about 30 seconds Everytime you open it. and there is no way to save where you left off. Also the page skipping system felt a little clunky, could only move it one page at a time, which could take a while if you were trying to skip to end. Overall, great app, only minor issues that are easy fixes
If you really like lovecraftian fiction and don't have enough time or if you're just lazy this is a great option. This tale, The Beast in the Cave was one of my first Lovecraft's tales. I really enjoyed watching and interacting with it. The ambient and music are cool. Try it. If you like cosmic horror literature this is a great option for you. I'm waiting for the next volumes.
It's fantastic, with some minor glitches on my Teclast X98 Plus tablet, like pages are bigger than the display itself, so it looks weird and unreadable sometimes, plus I can't leave the options page, because its top is above the display's top. Other than that it's very nice and interesting!
Oh I loved it!! So scary it had me tense (plus the fact that I read it at night). Great writing skills, the art and music were also amazing! The end tugged at my heart for the poor guy.
The music and illustration create just right atmosphere for the horror. Current page / total and bookmark needed. And the handle shaped button on the bottom of the page is a little disturbing, how about opening the menu by sliding up instead?
Man.. lovecraft itself is great, but this app and maner of telling and animations and what is important: sounds.. I was in freaking fears. Great job, guys! keep doing such stuff. 5 stars of course! (y)
Every once in a while it goes just slightly over the top, but on the whole it's an involving interpretation. Recommended. I look forward to future volumes — I'd love to see what they do with a longer text!
The music and sounds go well. I usually turn sound off because it's annoying to me. However this is the first time I left it on. I found the story captivating and illustrations amazing. The only thing I would change is possibly some of the handwriting. I sometimes had a hard time reading it. The scribbling adds greatly to the ambiance of the story...it's just, if it was a little less messy I wouldn't have had to re read and struggle to make out the words.
Beautiful and immersive. A couple of errors stop me from giving it 5 stars - some apparently missing text on one page and an illustration that doesn't match the text (eyes that appear to have no iris are described but the image clearly depicts irises). But these are very small faults in what is obviously otherwise a gorgeous labour of love. Can't wait for the next volumes.
Fantastically well built atmosphere and great interactive book. A must for HPL fans. Not one of the best stories but gives a glimpse at the potential this concept can do. Imagine a Call of Cthulhu or At the Mountains of Madness interactive!!
Absolutely wonderful! I can't wait to experience more of Lovecraft's work in this style! Hopefully some of his longer stories are in the offing! I have some particular favorites that would be chilling to read in this manner! Thank you so much for your hard work!
Beautiful but not good for reading, imo. First of all, long intro. Secondly, the pages turn too slow. And last but far from the least is how the small amount of words per page ruined the flow for me. It felt like I was reading a children's book. Still beautiful though.

Wonderfully portrayed Lovecraft's fiction really commits itself to the atmosphere it creates. This does a fine job of completing that atmosphere for the full enjoyment of the story. My only gripe is that "The Beast in the Cave" was written in such a way that the narrator is undescribed. As if Lovecraft wants the reader to fully imagine that they themself are the one experiencing the events of the story. I wish that the illustrations of the narrator had left their appearance to the imagination.
