iMpulsify for Android
It's an empty plastic shell, with blinky lights.....don't waste your $.
There is.a small learning curve but if you take the time to learn it it can be a very satisfying device. Anyone needing help just message me.
This is by far one of the best birthday gifts ever. I've had it for a year already and still works but i plan on buying a second one just because!
No issues on the nexus six
This controller is awful in just about every sense of the word. I am disgusted and will never support a kickstarter project again . It may be great for iOS but it is essentially a worthless POS for Android. That horribly shrill alarm that sounds every time you get a bluetooth connection makes me want to throw it out the window. Not of the keys map properly in any of the modes so it is useless. Shame really because I was excited about its small size. Back to moga pro for me.
Not worth the long Kiclstarter wait or money! Worthless, as I tried 4 games, which I just bought to test out the controller. They just navigate the player, but can't shoot or jump. Such a huge disappointment... :'(
This controller works awesome, works with most games I tried. All emulators work with this controller! For the people having issues, learn how to work electronics and how to set them up correctly. I bet your VCR is still flashing 12:00.... There is no controller out there right now that magically sets itself up. You have to map the keys on emulators, for some Android games you need to set it to gamepad mode, read the instructions on how to set it up, there are forums also where you can ask and get help.
I watched the tutorials and they did help, but switching to media mode erases the default keyboard back to Samsung on my Note 3. Making me manually switch it back to SwiftKey. This controller is a good IDEA, but fails horribly on execution.
Works with no emulators I've found
Helpful app to accompany the controller. Looking forward to seeing more compatible games.
It's just crappy print like graphics and doesn't help with anything. Like android gamepad cannot be detected by the app. Sorry but if this is "overhauled" you have a strange sense of quality improvement. I'll be glad to review a later update.
Rough start but going smoothly now
Very disappointed that it does not work properly with a mainstream model. :( Sigh..
Cannot get controller to recognize games even when in Northpaw universal player 1 mode. Instructions are unclear /non existent and support page on website leads nowhere.
Impulse works with my nes SNES emulators and mame4droid fine. Just set the keymaps within the emulator you use, twitts!
It's hard to use and the list of "working" games is worthless.
Best little controller under the sun. Great app for unlocking its potential!
Lacking functionality. Bad use of iphone pictures.. slightly confusing.
Wheres the update! You should of released for the app when u updated the controller
It's an empty plastic shell, with blinky lights.....don't waste your $.
I really wanted this to work with my galaxy s4. But the UI Is to clunky for it to work. The list of games to use it with was very small. I hope in time they will fix the app
Have not found one game that works. App refuses to recognise gamepad mode
I just downloaded it but was curious if u guys did a gamecube emulator so I can platy Zelda its hard to find one that works
Horrible UI, has a picture of an iPhone, and the controller won't even work with the games it claims to work with. Fail Edit: Downloaded the new update and while it might work better it still has freaking Apple in the app. Either these guys love Apple or they are just lazy. So annoying. Either way, my remote worked so bad when I first tried it that I don't even know where it is. It was just an expensive paperweight that took a really really really long time to arrive. Still one star.
Not a single feature on this device worked. Hey look a huge keyfob that you can find with your phone..... If it worked. Also changed the keyboard settings so predictive text and word suggestions were turned off. The list of games that support the gamepad are so limited. Great idea, poor execution!
Love ti
I'll confirm what a few good souls mentioned already -- app crashes on startup with the latest android update. Gamepad support is a step in the right direction but pretty meaningless without a working app.
It is true how complicated the ui is but otherwise it works as it should.
Kit Kat 4.2.2 running Art.
The UI couldn't be worse, horrible app... Please developer, have a look at Android Design Guidelines released by Google, and completely redo this! As for the controller, a firmware update will hopefully improve the key mapping...

The impulse controller works great in presentation mode and media mode. Very few games outside emulators work as expected. For those having issues in universal controller mode, try the ios mode. I have found a few games actually work with this setup, heroes of loot being one. The good news, an actual controller mode is on its way according to the description above. Remember, this is still effectively a beta public release. Give the developers until the commercial release before panning the controller.
When contacted, impulse responded to either install a custom rom, which would break my contact, or get a new phone.
If you have an Impulse, you need this app. It could be better, but it is very functional and helpful. Telling you which mode you are in is awesome, as well as a nice graphical preview of the buttons you are pressing and how to hold it. Very slick. It is nice that a big notification pops up and updates the preview when you change modes. Controller itself is a game changer (especially if they can figure out a couple of fit and finish issues).
Can't even open the app. I'll up my rating once this is fixed as I only want it to function for emulator use.

I have updated this review to reflect the fact much has been improved in the new firmware update. It now allows Bluetooth gamepad mode (like it always should have). Thanks for fixing this, I'm actually using it now and am happy with it!
Have a new Nexus 7 and this app doesnt work, just force closes.
Crashes upon startup. This is what I was eagerly waiting for all this time? EDIT ***It's clear the developers are trying their hardest to make this work, and I appreciate that. If and when this works properly, I will re-evaluate my review. For now, I've increased from 1 to 2 stars for the effort being put into this.***

This was a great little controller for iPad but now I want to use it for gear vr on the Android, it won't even be detected. Totally useless for Android.
