What are users saying about SD Card Tester

Works on Atrix4G (GB) non-rooted. My main complaint is that it takes up so much memory. Per Android OS information, SDCardTester takes up 25MB. Also, the app should make it apparent that you touch the right-most part of the directory to allow you to navigate to the SD-ext directory - rather I had to read it in one of the reviewer's comments to figure that out. Nonetheless, it works and gave me what I believe are accurate results.

Note 4 - App won't even open, instead a popup box immediately appears stating that this app has force closed. Other sd card testing apps work fine. I recommend you install an app other than this one

This is the best one and its reliable! It doesnt give different reading for the same card each n every time u test like SD TOOLS does!

Z70%
by Z####:

App was already set to sdcard so there was no need to change the path. Tested a 16gb Emtec class 10 micro sdhc because after 1.5 years of use it wouldn't mount but doing an sd card erase in settings got it working again. Used this app to test the sd card's integrity. Chose the size of the test file by moving the slider all the way to 15816 MB. Test results: Writing - card took 99.9% or 15805 MB of data at 13.72 MB/s. Reading - validated and read 100% of 15821 MB at 9.95MB/s. It took a while to complete but it seems this card is good,

by Z####:

There are 2 flaws with this app. One, it doesnt tell u what test file size to choose. Two, it doesn't tell u what path to choose to find the sd card. I have a path to /sdcard and /microSD with different storage capacities. Whats the difference? It's not explained.

Just says 'SD Card Tester has stopped'... no more details ...no other indication ... running 5.0.1...could that be it? test your apps before releasing them please

It crashes on start, I suspect because of that update stopping apps from writing to the SD card. But it was a good app!

This is a: PASS Other more popular tools received a: FAIL Verified results on multiple devices/computers using several different software tools! This is the first one to work where I needed to know for sure - everything is copasetic. Big-Time Thanks!

Every time I tried to even open it, the app crashed! I'm using a galaxy s5 and it simply would not work.

I have 10 SD cards. Brand name and no names. I tested all of them and found one of my ebay cards is fake, no wonder why it was under priced. it was supposed to be in class ten 32 gigabyte card but actually only 4 gigabyte class 2. this app is awesome!

Every time I open the app it crashes. Tried with 3 different devices. Dont waste your time downloading this junk.

Don't waste your time. Galaxy Note 4 Tmobile it just instantly crashes.

Looks good on the screenshots maybe dev can fix the issue. Even a message stating why the app is not able to run would be better than silent failure.

does my tablet need more data to accurately test 32gb cards? i have a 16gb tablet card and 32gb sd card failed at 7gb. i had to get windows enabler and run diskmgmt.msc to repartition to 4gb. card works great now. i will change to 5star if dev answers the question about testing cards larger than tablets free space. may be a bug when testing. is there a pc version? very slow when testing by usb using otg i suggest internal mount only.

The app crashes every time I try to open it. Never even had the chance to try the app.

M70%

At the exact moment a 30000MB test finished the app crashed and on next load warned that the card may be fake, asking to try the test again. I tired, with the same result. For lower values it works alright. I'm testing a 32GB sdhc card, that works well and is perfectly good according to h2testw.

Deserves more than 3.3 avg review it gets. The only negative is getting the path page to open, but it usually responds to a Double tap or two at beginning of path field. Once open don't miss the UP arrow on top right. Select the target SD then back arrow to main screen and start test. The results are pretty consistent in repeated tests. You can select longer tests for a bit more accuracy and the app verifies the data accuracy as well as telling you the speed. Good graphics too. Be prepared to feel cheated by the speed claims from SD manufacturers. Real world performance in tablets and phones is not even close to stated specs.

But crashes before the UI loads, so it's not handling something about my phone gracefully. E-mail me when it works.

Rating: 0* for Android >= 4.4 (KitKat) 5* for Android <= 4.3 (Jelly Bean) I noticed that virtually no one has been able to get this to work since KitKat came out. Then I saw it has not been touched since October 2011. My Galaxy Note 3 running Lollipop 5.0 crashed during every attempt to run, even after a clean reboot. I think it is safe to declare this program officially dead.

after buying a 128GB + 2 more 64GB sandisc micro SD cards from cex, and fully testing it with this superb app! All my cards are fake/false gig cards. 5 green stars! 9/10% also use this PC program called h2testw it works too. much thanks this ones a keeper.

Could be due to honeycomb issue, no permission to modify sd card...

J70%

Doesn't aggregate total speeds, but it's free and you can see the speed in real time. Note that by default it selected my internal storage, had to manually set it to sdcard-ext.

Worked on my Android 4.0 phone, where I had no SD card issues. Seems to write to free space so that it doesn't overwrite existing files. However, I installed it onto a KitKat phone (A 4.4.4) and when I started it I got the message 'Unfortunately, SDCardTester has stopped' (Report or OK) Unfortunately, it's this new phone that has the SDcard issues!

D70%
by D####:

Works fine on my HTC Sensation and my tablet's internal memory (I was just curious about the speed). But the app locks up when I try to test my tablet's sd card. It could be because I'm using jellybean or the fact that my tablet is an unknown brand

does 1 thing and does it well. it tests to make sure you didnt get ripped off on your SD card purchase. I bought a class 10 micro SD card, although it seemed fast, I couldn't trust until I tested it. this app verified that it is indeed running at class 10 speeds! No clutter or BS, just a straight forward test. thanks dev!

Able to test multiple storage. However the % bar keeps jumping from a lower % to a higher % (eg 9% -> 56% -> 100%) without smooth animation and long pauses in between.

D70%
by D####:

As others have commented, it IS possible to change the path to /sdcard-ext with this app (I tried all the others and they don't work). However, it's tricky. You need to tap-tap-tap in the top-right corner a bunch of times, keep at it and eventually you will get a screen that allows you to change the path. This is important with phones such as the Bionic because otherwise you're just testing the internal memory, which is pointless since you can't swap it out with something faster.

Why do I get 'Error processing purchase' message when trying to install this app? There is no mention of it being anything other than free. I don't trust it - please prove me wrong.

D70%

It's great, but it would be much better if halfway during write process, you provide an option to skip the write process and process to validating/reading immediately. For example, I can set the app to test for up to 16 GB in the beginning, but then after seeing it write over 8GB, I would love to be able to skip and process with validating and readtesting that 8GB of written data.

I can only give this app 3 stars because its 25mbs when installed. Works great other then its a space hog. Luckily I can uninstall it after I use it. Don't switch cards to often.
