Car Gauge Pro (OBD2 + Enhance) for Android
This app states that it is for 1996-and up for obd2. It also states that it will read the cmp offset "cam retard" for my 1997 350 vortec, which is why it was purchased. Sent 2 emails explaining that it will not report any pids, auto scan etc. Other users have had the same problem. No contact back. Did everything by the book. Buyer beware where there is no phone number to contact support. What a waste.
I'm giving this app 1 star because after paying that $11 I found out that it doesn't work on my android kitkat 4.4.4. Car stereo. It does work on my android phone but that makes my life much harder now. I also couldn't find any android version requirements on the app page.
Unable to set cam retard on 97 350 vortec. Nothing mentioned anywhere in product information about 96-98 hardware exclusions. Had to discover this info from other reviews experience.
It works but not for me. If i wanted to read through everything id use my obd2 scanner. Way to over priced.
Update 5/11/17 same issue as before. Bluetooth works with other gauge apps. Just not this one. I would gladly pay the price for an app that works. Price has gone up since last time I used it and it still doesn't work 2 years later!
Junk! don't waste your money! You have 2 hours to decide if you want a refund and it takes longer than 2 hours to figure it out. Not to mention I bought just as others to do injector contrabution and buzz tests just to find out it does not work. I emailed the guy just for him to say wait for an update. Well it's been 4 months and no update. What a waste of money
I don't understand why this app has negative reviews. It's NOT hard to use. It could stand some improvements but it is an entirely functional application. I had no issue whatsover using it with my 2003 Maxima. Extended PIDs work perfectly! Highly recommended. I recommend it over Nissan Data Scan 2 for those considering it as an option.
To anyone who says it won't work. I have a Note 8. Today is Nov 10, 2017. I just did 2 buzz tests with mine using BAFX OBD2. I advise you to do a google search and type in how to buzz test with car gauge pro. Watch the 3:ish video of all the tablets on table. Works perfect. I don't need a refund. Well worth the money!!! Buzzzzzzzzz.. click click click click click click click click. For 8.99!
I bought this app to do a buzz test on my 07 6.0l. Unfortunately the two obdll devices i have will not connect to the ecm. My torque pro does fine. I sent an email to their support and was told most vehicles will not connect because most devices do not support the vehicle's can system. Waste of money and terrible support help.
I like it, and the fact that it can read the CMP on a Vortec engine so I can set a distributor without a Tech II tool, I wish it had some more two functionality. Also, it's kind of flaky as to whether or not it wants to connect to my ELM327 device. Torque Pro has no issue with the same device. Of course, Torque Pro doesn't have nearly the functionality of this
Nearly unusable interface. No instructions of any sort, and is definitely not intuitive in the least. Finally found someone online that could help me use this to get the cmp (cam retard percent) on my Suburban, and it did save me a some money, but even then I'm not sure how accurate the reading is. There are two different CMP options, which vary about a degree, and the value is supposed to be set at -2 to 2 degrees. Having a full degree difference between the two readings makes for precision guesswork at best.
The app is supposed to work but not in my case. Like others I wanted to do the buzz test on injectors but it never starts. Of course it took longer than 2 hours to set up and try to figure it out so no refund. Waste of money and time.
I have a 06 f250 6.0 and wanted to do a buzz test on the injectors which doesn't work. I downloaded this app because of some YouTube videos using Car Gauge pro and doing buzz test. I live in California and the state puts a lot of restrictions on us and not sure if it's because of that or from my elm 327 scanner but it does not work for me.
Bought it for my power stroke but cant get it to download pids. It won't do anything. All I wanna do is buzz test my injectors. Tried 2 different obd2 connectors. It starts to scan and then stops at 15 %
This is the only scan tool that allows you to do a buzz test and a contribution test for Ford diesels.. best app I have ever used period. Better than torque pro.. not quite as user friendly but once you get used to it, it just plain works!
The ui is difficult to use, and several test functions simply do not work. I purchased this app to buzz test my 6.0 liter powerstroke, the app acts like it wants to start the test, but doesn't actually do anything and doesn't give an error. I think this app has great potential, but need a lot more refinement to make it usable. It may work for you, just didn't do for me what it claimed it could do.
This app is useful, but I would like to see the interface improved. Setting up gauges is painful, and I haven't found much instruction of how to use all the features. For the functions it performs it is still worth the money, just not very user friendly.
Update to previous ratings... Previously the application made it impossible to connect and communicate. The developers I guess fixed this in the last update and addressed the problem that it does not connect to HTC One devices. I have really enjoy this app and hope the developers keep up the good work.
Junk app. Came to this thinking it was better than Torque Pro. Haha not.. Tried multiple ways to connect through the bluetooth and all it gets is a java error. Waste of money and time. Just use Torque Pro.
This app saved me a ton of money diagnosing a problem with my Ford Super Duty Diesel engine. It performs most of the tests that the more AutoEngunuity software can do, at a fraction of the cost. The interface isn't as refined as its competitors. And it only works with high quality Bluetooth based ELM adapters - cheap units won't work! Doing the diagnostics is a bit backwards, but it performs the tests well. Totally worth the money if you need portable diagnostics on your Android phone or tablet.
The app claims to do alot of functions, like buzz tests on 6.0l powerstrokes. Well it is unable to do it, and cylinder contributions test either. So what it does for 9 bucks is nothing more than you can get for free. The developer is way cool tho, he did everything he could to help me. Even sending me an app that would at least do a buzz test. But its alot of hoops to jump thru, and the interface is less user friendly than others.
I like it, and the fact that it can read the CMP on a Vortec engine so I can set a distributor without a Tech II tool, I wish it had some more two functionality. Adjusted my timing up by 2 degrees on my 06 350z! It let me adjust my idle initially but it seems not to allow it to move anymore. It lets me in but no adjustment, yet shows no errors. Car temp is within range.
Doesnt hook up to bluetooth. My Torque pro app does without fail. Only bought this to buzz test my 6.0 injectors, and i cant even get it to communicate with bluetooth OBD2 adaptor! This is a joke. Dont waste your time and money on this.
This app has one of the worst user interfaces I've ever seen. On the bright side, I was able to set the CMP offset on my Chevy Tahoe without spending a fortune on a GM Tech 2. I'll still use Torque for everything else, though.
Ive got the app with a v scan bluetooth and i cant get the bluetooth to read the scanner. I own a ford truck and trying to do the buzz test and read other things. Also I'm using a samsung note 5. Any help would be appreciated.
Doesnt work meanwhile both Nissan Datascan III and Torque App with Nissan EX module works flawlessly. Must have been Consult III code issue. Specific error being thrown were No PID reading from ECU. Refund back.
I bought so that I could buzz test on a ford 6.0, using an obdlink mx (which is said in description to work with). I'm not sure what is happening, but after starting test no buzz takes place. App says I should wait for test, but after waiting for 5 mins I'm left believing nothing is going to happen. Also why do I have to rescan pids every time I reconnect Bluetooth?!? I tried other self test, and only the "key on, engine running" test did anything
After the update, I don't see the ability to adjust the timing anymore. That's the only reason why I bought this app for. Now it's just a waste. Torque light is better in every way than this app. Do not waste your time and money on this.
I purchased this app to try to do a injector buzz test on my 06 ford f350 6.0 thinking for the price it was worth a try. I also purchased the vgate bluetooth obdll port, but no luck. I it will not work for me.
On my 02 Maxima VQ35DE, Idle Control, Idle Air Volume Control, Ignition Advance Control, all 4 Self Tests don't work. Goto the dealer to get your throttle body relearned. On a 04 Ford Powerstroke 6.0L Diesel, Cylinder Contribution and Injector Buzz Test doesn't work. No FICM voltage either, so pay the $360 and get AutoEnginuity for your Powerstroke, don't be cheap, I have it and I can see the whole truck on my laptop screen. This app is like the outside of a soda can; AutoEnginuity has the insides of it..
I can not connect to the application using elm327 mini bluetooth obd2 adapter it always fails with some java errors message like the other users having the same issues. Torque pro and other obd2 apps connects with my adapter. I regret paying that much for something that doesn't work!
I have an elm327 mini adapter, brand-new and it tries to connect but it fails right before it's Checks connections. Wasted money
I can get this app to work sometimes, but most of the time not. I've tried with multiple dongles. The app is not clear as to what you need to press to get the scan or give you're looking for. There is no manual or any instructions that I can find. But I was able to set cam retard on a gm vortec. It took a looong time to figure out how to use the app to do so and the constant disconnecting was aggravating, but I was able to do it. For most basic things there are better and more reliable apps, but if y
Update to previous ratings... I hope the developers see this and addresses this problem. It does not connect to HTC One devices. I have used it on other devices previously but have since moved on . I have really enjoyed this app and hope the developers solve this problem soon!!!!!!!.
Developer, listen to me... clone this app and call the second version "Diagnostics for Fords" and you will sell a ton more copies. This is an amazing app that every used Ford owner should have but almost none of them realize it is specifically a better choice for them due to their FORD. They think Torque Pro is better because it is popular. SECOND ADVICE: Everyone says it already, you must know... the interface is confusing. You might need to sit down with someone who does not work on this app for a fresh perspective on a rebuild. Nothing is accessed or categorized in a way that is intuitive. I don't care that Torque Pro is "prettier" that's fine but you have no excuse to be messy. Ugly is fine. Messy is bad. I love your app and am doing my best to spread the good word. boredgamesnowATgmail if you somehow read this and want to chat.
I bought this app to do contribution testing and buzz testing on a 6.0 ford. 2 things it refuses to do. I get request out of range or unknown code as an error when I try. I emailed support, got NO RESPONSE. I feel ripped off. I bought the correct obd2 device and this app and wasted my money. Of course since I tried to do the "right thing" and contact support before giving up on it. Now I am SOL on getting a refund. AVOID THIS GARBAGE! EDIT: I already emailed support. Maybe you should reply...
Crappy app no customer service to speak of and no help with refund. Tried on 3 vechile didn't work on any. Connects and does nothing. Then say obd link mx needed. No help at all suck sucks sucks. Shouldn't claim that it will work when it wont. No stars
Tried 2 different ELM 327 devices, will not connect with Nissan Specific ECM. Bought this app to adjust Ign timing and was throughly dissapointed.

I can't seem to get the app to hold the data from my truck. Every time I start the app up, I have to reload the PIDS and gauges which is extremely annoying. Samsung Galaxy S5. If you can make it so that it stores the data so I can quickly start the app and go, I will increase the amount of stars.
