A panchangam is a Hindu astrological almanac, which follows traditional Indian cosmology, and presents important astronomical data in tabulated form. It is sometimes spelled Pancanga or Panchanga, and is pronounced Panchanga.
Usage: The basic purpose of Hindu Panchangam is to check various Hindu festivals and auspicious time (election- Muhurta). In the Hindu system of election, various element of Panchangam constitute auspicious and inauspicious moments (Yogas) by combination of weekday-Tithi, weekday-constellation, weekdays-Tithis-constellations. In addition, individual weekdays, Tithis, constellations, Yoga and Karanas have been prescribed for specific activities which fructify during their currency.
Panchangam in vedic astrology means five attributes of a day. They are Thithi, Vara, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karana.
Thithi is ending moment of elongation of the Moon, the lunar day, the angular relationship between Sun and Moon. One Tithi equals 12 degree difference between Moon and Sun
Nakshatra is ending Moment of asterism of the day, that is, the stellar mansion in which Moon is located for an observer on Earth. One Nakshatra equals 13 degrees:20 minutes. There are 27 Nakshatra in 360 degrees.
Yoga is ending Moment of the angular relationship between Sun and Moon. One Yoga equals 13 degrees:20 minutes. There are 27 Yogas in 360 degrees. Karana is ending Moment of half of a Tithi. One Kara equals 6 degree difference between Moon and Sun.
Panchangam app is developed to help people who want to know accurate Thithi, Nakshatram, yogam and karanam for their current location. Usually regional astro calendars are calculated based on a particular popular city so it may not be accurate for your current location where you are or your phone is. This app will calculate all astrological calculations on the fly depending on your phone's location, hence you will see more accurate results.
This app is currently available in Android and Windows Phone Market. This will be available in iPhone/iPod and iPad soon.

There are many bugs in the software. 1. It does not identify the place correctly. It refuses to take the right place name also. 2. Under yoga heading names of karana are given and vice versa 3.It gives the panchangam details of previous day instead of today. Suggestions for improvement: 1. These bugs must be removed. 2. Requirement of internet connection every time this software is activated is a nuisance. 3. See if it can give panchangam details off line if the lattitude longitude details of the place is given manually in offline mode.

This app is working very slow in my Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360. It has been taking long time to open and I do not understand, why this app requires e-mail address. Developer should develop this app properly first. And please, add major Indian regional languages in Panchangam like Bengali, etc.
